We believe each person (including children, young people and adults) with disability has universal rights and should have them respected, upheld and maintained at all times. As a provider we encourage participants to express their rights to choice and control, based on their individual culture, values and beliefs without prejudice. We support personal choice to practice individual values and beliefs which we treat with respect and sensitivity. We also ensure this standard is maintained by providing training to staff on the importance of recognizing and respecting the respective laws and human rights that relate to the services we provide.

Our aim is to ensure that the highest standards of dignity are provided for anyone that is receiving care within our service and execution of each participant’s right to privacy and dignity in all aspects of service delivery including but not limited to confidentiality, as outlined in service agreement. Participants are provided with information for disability specific advocacy support services, outlined in the participant handbook and discussed verbally, should a participant feel as though their privacy has been breached.

We have made it very clear to all our staff to speak without jargon so that participants can understand clearly. At the same time, we do not tolerate patronizing language or speaking down to a participant. We also respond to our clients honestly to build trust and take time to listen to their concerns.

We provide participants support to ensure that they are able to make an unbiased, informed and independent decision based on support and lifestyle goals communicated in accordance with the preferred communication method of the participant. Our support services are collaborative, and participants are encouraged to decide through their personal preference.

The governance and the operational management of Vibrant Disability Support Services is a defined structure developed for the protection of the participants’ rights. Vibrant disability support services staff are encouraged to participate in on-going training required to maintain the standards to work under the governing body and adhere to current legislation. We also continuously review our policies to make sure our services adhere to the current policies, so we are able to provide the best services to participants. The feedback and complaints procedure are outlined in the service agreement and explained at the onset of service delivery and, annually through our participant satisfaction survey. We aim to treat all feedback and complaints systematically and fairly.

The potential risk to participants, worker, environment and the business are prioritized, analysed and countered accordingly. Vibrant disability support services staff utilize an on-line APP to communicate incident and risk management. All identified potential risks are currently communicated and worked upon in collaboration with the participant that the risk directly relates to. Participants are encouraged to express their rights to choose within decision making. We support personal choice within legal and safety perimeters. Staff training is addressed in team meetings for further staff development.

Participants are also involved in selecting their support staff and staff are provided with additional training that may be required in order to respond to the participant’s needs and preferences. The business approach of Vibrant Disability Support Services is to assist, plan and review of support plans, assessment and planning will cover risk assessments and will at least be reviewed annually. Support network can also be included with the participants’ consent.
